How I Got Here

I have always been interested in nutrition and how it can be a powerful tool in true healing.

I grew up with a host of food sensitivities and stomach troubles, however no one understood any of that then. I was a picky eater and most of the time did not enjoy eating because of the pain associated with it.

Right after college, I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy while working as an immunohistochemist at The Ohio State University Medical Center. I was testing patients’ tissues for cancer markers and other alignments while I was also having a health crisis.

I later became a research scientist for a private company working on classified studies. It involved obtaining DoD and DoJ security clearances and having to have my eye scanned just to have access to my lab. It was something you’d see out of a movie and was interesting and fun for a short time but was not for me. I am a social person and being stuck behind a fume hood by myself was not doing me any good.

Around this time, the birth of my son turned my life upside down.
He was born with over 12 severe allergies and food sensitivities, head to toe eczema, colic, and sensory issues.

This was the beginning of my nutrition journey.

I was told that there was nothing doctors could do except steroid creams and medicines with a ton of side effects. No one was interested in the root cause of his issues and so I sought to heal him myself. I researched and read everything I could about healing the gut, skin, and nervous system.

I sought out holistic chiropractors, nutritionist, and medical professionals to help me put all the pieces together and over time, my son was free from all his allergies but ONE! No more eczema and no more meltdowns over clothes and sensory overload! I healed my gut also and when my daughter was born, she had no issues!

I later went on to become the head trainer at a fitness gym and my members were asking me for nutritional advice.

Who was I to give advice?

I knew what worked for me and my family but not for someone else, so I went back to school and became a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association. This is a science-based, holistic approach to nutrition that honors the bio-individuality of our bodies focusing on the foundations including the importance of properly prepared, nutrient-dense, whole food diet paired with a balanced lifestyle.

Fast forward a few years, and I was involved in a head-on car accident on the highway. I sustained an open segmental tibia and fibula fracture (fancy way of saying that my shin was in a lot of pieces). I developed multiple bone infections and after 6 months of daily IV antibiotics and 3 surgeries later, my gut was a mess!!!

While I was healing, I went back to school to dive deeper into gastrointestinal healing, food sensitivity testing, blood chemistry, and hormones. I was able to repair my gut, food sensitivities and thyroid issues that developed from all the medicine and stress my body had endured.

I learned to walk (not once but 3 times!) and I’m passionate about helping others heal their bodies also.

Our bodies are miraculous and with a little help and nurturing, always want to return to baseline to optimal health.

I FIGURED IT OUT BECAUSE I KNEW THIS WORK WAS NECESSARY AND THAT I CAN DO HARD THINGS.

Just like you.

The “hard thing” is being committed to yourself, trusting the process and your beliefs.

IF YOU'RE HERE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE

YOU'RE READY TO FEEL BETTER,

Welcome!

You're in the right place.

But if you're not quite there yet with your belief, that's ok, too. You'll get there.

If there is a part of you that wants to find optimal health and impact your life, you can do it.

You don’t need to research anything, know how it’s going to work, or how to do it. You just need to believe that it will work because you have me as your coach, and we’ll figure it out.

That’s ok if you don’t have that belief in yourself quite yet, you can borrow mine…

Because I believe in you, and I know I can help you achieve your goals.

I know there’s a reason you’re reading this right now, and I can’t wait to see what's ahead for you.

If you’re in need of inspiration, start writing your About Me story just like this one.

Think about all the twists and turns that led you to exactly where you are today. It all matters and it’s connected.

I bet you’ll have a new appreciation for that path that led you exactly where you needed to be, even if you couldn’t see it at the time.

I know that past Nicole had to go through all the ups, downs and uncomfortable stuff so she would evolve into the woman I am today who isn’t afraid to show up, trust the process and help others on their own journey.
